Career of the Week
What the job entails: Trichologists help people who have problems with their hair or the skin on top of their heads. This area of skin is called the scalp. Trichologists give advice about things like hair loss, itchy and sore scalps, and damaged hair. They are not doctors, but they do know a lot about this part of the body and may also give certain treatments. Routes and choices while at school: You need a good general education for this work. GCSEs in English, maths and science are particularly relevant to any training you will need to do. Pay: Pay when starting is about £14,000 to £15,000 per year. When experienced, it is about £18,000 to £23,000. For experts with a lot of experience, pay can rise to £25,000 or more.
